Geb: Land of the Dead

Session 2
Snakes and Chattle

By Acolyte Azad

Entry 5

Me, Beckma and Meeu searched up and down the shore, but the only sign we found of Denmar was his Alkenstar weapon. We salvaged what we could, but time was short.
We headed inland and northwards on direction of Sir Hornmane.

Entry 6

Beckma just noticed that a flock of birds got close and suddenly changed direction. Shit.

Entry 7

We hid in a nearby burial Cairn. Looked to be ancient Osirian. We soon spotted a hunting party. This guy leading three zombies. Upon confrontation it turned out the guy was a ghoul. He got me good. Hope I didn’t catch anything.

Hornmane told us of his mission. Its big. Not sure I’ll write about it here. At any rate, we are to meet a Pathfinder and his apprentice at Geb’s Rest.

Entry 8

Today Becma made a plank I brought from the wreck into a crutch for Hornmane. Hornmane’s broken leg was healed through a blessing from what I can only assume was his goddess, the Inheritor. It’s odd to think that he is watched over by a different goddess than I, but after some contemplation I think I feel reassured that our mission in Geb is watched over by more than one party. Maybe there even are more that have stakes in this? But that would be beyond my knowing.

Entry 9

We moved on in the middle of the night. Becma can see in the dark, apparently, so she led the way. Im not sure it’s a magical trick or a part of her heritage, and I’ve yet to find a way to ask. She is one hell of a woman, exotic and dangerous. I wouldn’t want to be on her badside, for any reason.

We saw several mounted possy’s looking for us. But I was able to discern their pattern and we got past without incident. Hornmane said it was a hundred miles or more to Geb’s Rest.

Entry 10

We found a farm tended by the undead. It was horrible and fascinating at the same time. Effective and ruthless. I hate this place a bit more now.

It was decided we would steal some food from the farm, so I prayed for protection from Sarenrae and we snuck in. We were spotted immediately, but I managed to talk our way in.
We escaped what was probably gonna be a trap through what I’ve come to think of as the “Meeu”-fix. Wich is when Meeu fixes a problem with her club. We ran away with a few bags of flour but were spotted on the way out.

They came out riding, but Becma cast an odd spell that caused one of the riders to fall off his horse. Then Meeu was surrounded, but hammered and bit her way out. The man who fell off his horse got the worst of it, though. Becma lit the substance from her earlier spell on fire, and both the horse and its rider were burned alive in the conflagration.

I can still hear their screams.

We looted the sword of the one attacker that gave up and took one horse. The sword carries the sigil of <insert name="true">

Entry 11

We stayed a night in a village named Tarloc’s Hollow. Lord Tarlow and Becma hooked up for the evening. I’m not sure what I think of it, as Lord Tarlow apparently was a Necromancer. But I guess one takes pleasure where one can find it. And I’d never chastise Becma. Not sure she considers me enough of a friend to not just light me on fire if I did so. I will pray for her continued safety at any rate.

Before we left and after spending a night there we stocked up on supplies. We decided against taking a route through the Mana Wastes, as our party uses a lot of magic to turn the tide of battles. I would like to go there, though. If only to test my resolve when I know the Dawnflower cannot reach me.

Meeu wants to learn how to read, it seems me and Becma share the sentiment that we should teach her. Meeu sometimes seems to have more lucid thoughts, but more often than not reacts to situations like a wild animal would. I think she has a good heart, though. And that’s all that really matters in the end.

Entry 12

My goddess, tonight was hectic. It ended good, but hectic.

We came upon a Chattlehouse. People used and bred as mere cattle. We decided it had to be destroyed, not that I think any of our opinions would have mattered to Hornmane, who seemed obsessed by it to the point of beeing suicidal. The man’s faith is as intense as the desert sun is hot. Terrifying in its own right. Hopefully there will never be a day when its pointed at me.

We saved them all, and took down a lot og bad-guys in the process. Meeu did a most spectacular aerial dive onto an enemy. The woman is a beast!

Now we need to protect the captives till they are safely away. Will write more soon.

Round 2
A big house!

Session entry by Beckma Dremetis

Entry 6
Damn it Danmar! Where are you? I found you loud piece of weaponry. I kept it in case we find you or you find us.

We took what we could carry from the wreck before we headed northwest ish on the directions of Hornmane. That led us strait in the grass plains and just as I look up a large flock of black birds, probably ravens, made a sharp turn and I just know that they were looking for something and now, I guess they found it.

Entry 7
We found some huge stones that we hid in and guess what, I was right! I spotted a hunting party of four. Three zombie-looking motherbuckers and one that looked to be the “leader”. I told the rest before Azad made this brilliant plan that he would lure them in to him and Hornmane and then Meeu and I would ambush them.

It kind of worked; we killed all of them, although the “leader”, that turned out to be a ghoul, managed to bite Azad. He seems fine; he just froze for 10 seconds.

After that Hornmane told us what his real quest was. I mean I admire the man for his courage but he’s in way over his head.
At least for now out goal is to get to Geb’s rest to meet up with some allies that traveled by land.

Entry 8
I took first watch and found a piece of plank that Azad had picked up. I made a crutch, thinking that if Hornmane were to travel with us he would need all the help he could get. After we all hade rested Hornmane healed his broken foot and found the crutch. I didn’t tell him that I made it, I let him believe his Goddess had brought it to him.

Entry 9
We started to move in the middle of the night. I’m used to walking around with others that have dark vision, so walking with Meeu, Azad and Hornmane that couldn’t see, was new and difficult. We met some difficulties but Azad got us through them. When we past the danger, our one legged paladin, Hornmane told us that 100 miles remained until we were in Geb’s rest…I’m so tired of this, not only is my best friend missing, but everything we say, Meeu repeats and tries to figure out the word. Don’t get me wrong she is use full but oh my god it’s irritating.

Entry 10
We found an undead farm today. It even gave me the creeps. I never though I would feel sorry for anyone in this land but now I do. We decided that we needed food and then to steal some wheat. That was when one of the living guards saw us. Azard and the man talked in a language I didn’t understand and then we were brought inside. It occurred to us pretty fast that it was a trap and we had Meeu “fix” the guard for our escape. We snuck in to a cottage and took four sacks of flour but were spotted on the way out.

They came riding after us, but I have some tricks up my sleeve. I cast a grease spell that caused one of the riders to fall off his horse and then his horse fell on top of him, crushing his legs. Right after that a huge, ghost spider walked right past me…sometimes there wizard eyes are so annoying.

I looked over at Meeu that was surrounded, but she hammered and bit her way out. I like her more and more, and then the man who fell off his horse had it coming. I lit the grease on fire, and both the horse and its rider were burned alive.

Entry 11
We finally found a place with real beds, YES! We went to the first tavern/inn/common hall we found and I treated all of us to some mutton. I never thought I would be happy for that sorry excuse of a meal but I was so relived to finally get some meat. In the corner of my eye a dark figure got my attention. He was clearly a necromancer judging by the skulls on his robes and the alive snake, slithering around his staff. He invited me over to his table and as I walked over, I noticed Meeu following me. We sat down with the handsome stranger. He introduced himself as Cephal Tarlock, the major of Tarlock’s hollow.

Ehhhh, what’s with people and naming thing after them here?

Anyway, he offered me a nice vine and after some conversation and an excellent job of putting the topic of conversation on something else than who we were and where we came from. He invited me over to him, in his big house and of course I said yes.

p.s the whole time we were there I told Hornmane to play mute. Because he can’t lie, stupid paladin. So if you think about it, I just told a paladin to shut up for two whole days!

Entry 12
Today left the big house and met up with the rest. Meeu asked me right away if he hade a big house, poor soul. I almost couldn’t keep myself form laughing. I told her that he had a big house and in hopes of the conversation ending there I smiled. Just then I saw Azad standing behind Meeu, his face tomato red, with one hand over his mouth. I could tell that he was having just as much trouble as me trying not to laugh. She then proceeded to ask about his snake and then I broke, I laughed so hard and Meeu, poor girl didn’t know what was so funny.

Before leaving we stocked up on supplies and decided against taking a route through the Mana Wastes. I can’t begin to tell you how relived I was. Also Meeu told us that she wants to learn how to read…I don’t know how I feel about that. I think I’ll help her with it, just because it would be fun to give some of my knowledge to somebody else.

Entry 13
Okay, now I feel so good about myself! So what happened was that on our way to Geb’s rest, we have to pass some Chattel houses. Now we encountered the first one. The paladin and Azad immediately wanted to run down there but we decided to wait until nightfall, then sneak in, kill the guards and free the people.

It worked, sort off…well we got in, killed some dudes and skeletons. Then we got to the courtyard where they kept the “chattel”, that was when things got a bit tricky. A few guards that Hornmane didn’t mange to distract outside of the building. They saw us and started to fire crossbow bolts. Azad fixed that and made a fog appear, covering the “chattel” and us. We got them out, giving them the weapons we had taken from the shitfaces we had killed earlier. They got out, I had a marvelous shot with my new Heavy crossbow and one-shot a guard.

After the battle we found Hornmane on surrounded, we killed them, helped him up. Then the shitties thing happened… up on the wall, Meeu climbed that high wall like motherducker! I didn’t see what happened, all I know was that the necromancer ran away and I couldn’t be prouder of her. Then we searched the rest of the building, burned the bodies and I may have started a tiny fire in one of the rooms, but don’t tell anyone.

Session entry from Acolyte Azad’s personal journal.

Entry 1

I’m starting this journal to have a place to put down the details of my travels, hopefully they won’t be all to interesting.

Entry 2

After a long journey from Andoran and a good deal of work put into keeping our ship’s two stowaways out of view of the rest of the crew we can finally lay our eyes upon the shoreline of Geb. The two stowaways, Denmar McKent and Beckma, weren’t too pleased to hear that our destination wasn’t Nex or the Mana Wastes.

Entry 3

The stowaways were found yesterday. The captain wasn’t too pleased about it. Luckily they didn’t rat out my involvement in their continued stay. The Captain Fergunn said they would be handed over to the proper authorities, though I suspect the man to possess enough of kind heart to at least bring them to a country where they won’t be used as cattle for their crimes.

Entry 4

Man. A lot has happened since the last entry. The ship is gone. Ive got good reason to believe the captain and crew dead. Sir Hornmane lived, but with grave injuries.

It started when I was heading for the upper deck after being posted as guard together with the dimwit-Meeu. We were to watch Denmar and Beckma in the brig. Anyway, as I reached the upper deck I noticed a thick unnatural fog enveloping the ship.

Soon after conferring with Sir Hornmane, the ship was attacked by an unknown vessel and skeletons streamed aboard. I took it upon myself to arm and gear our stowaways. I thought their help could be useful. They’d be dead now if I hadn’t done that.

We fought valiantly, and with Sarenrae’s help seems to get control over the skeletons. That’s when a horrible armor-clad abomination stepped onto the ship. Sir Hornmane told us to abandon ship, and we did.

I saved Meeu from drowning. Upon the beach I found Sir Hornmane. He was missing a leg and seemed to be on his last breath. He told me that “the mission of the Knights of Ozum must go on” and that it was up to us now. I’m not certain what to make of it. I’m just a lowly priest, certainly no knight of legend.

What a mess.

Session entry by Beckma Dremetis

Entry 1
I realized that is I were to keep track of all our failed but heroic deeds, I’d have to start writing a journal. So here it is…

Entry 2
After sitting in this boat, hiding from the crew for many days, Denmar and I were discovered. We were lucky, the man that found us decided to continue to keep us a secret and so the days kept passing. I’m so tired of the smell, I mean Denmar is not the best dwarf when it comes to hygiene, so it smells but thank god that I have prestidigitation.

Entry 3
MOTHERF!!!!! ARRRGH ! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT! We were just told that we weren’t headed for the Mana Wastes… I guess that’s a good thing considering my wizard eyes, but god damn it! Geb! Why are they…we, headed for Geb?! That place only houses undead. ARRRGGG!!!!!!!!

Entry 4
So yesterday was a shit day right, well today didn’t any better. It started with Denmar and I being found. The captain…Fungus I think his name was. Say that we would be handed over to the proper authorities once we hit land… shit.

Entry 5
Oh my god! I give up! The gods just don’t like me, that has to be it! So I haven’t written the last two days, do you know why?

A ghost ship attacked us! Jepp a ghost ship! One second I was sitting in the brig in the next this huge son of a giant woman, kicks open the door and then the guy that had kept us hidden came down with weapons on screamed that we were under attack. I think his name was Azad, a tan looking fella. Anyway we ran up on deck and there tons of skeletons was hacking an slashing the crew and soldiers to pieces. Then a man shouted for us to abandon the boat and I was happy to do it, so we jumped and washed up on the shore. There we found Sir Hornmane, the same man that had told us to jump. His leg was missing and I was sure he was a goner.
